The stack you would otherwise stitch together: a payment processor, a merchant of record service, a license key server, an update and download server, landing page hosting, coupon logic, and a user portal. Yard is one subscription where every piece is already wired to the others.
A merchant of record is the legal entity that sells your project to end users. Yard handles all payment processing, sales tax collection, VAT compliance, refunds, and invoicing on your behalf. You set the price, we handle the rest.
Yard supports all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and many local payment methods depending on your customer's region. Payments are processed by Stripe.
Yes. We have an extensive REST API available.
License keys are auto-generated for each purchase. We distribute the license key to your users and they can access it via their Yard account. Your application can validate keys via our REST API. Features include device activation tracking, seat limits for team licenses, and expiration management for subscription-based projects.
Every sale carries a 4.9% + $0.50 transaction fee that already covers payment processing, sales tax, and chargebacks. Each monthly payout adds a small transfer fee of $1.50
Because Yard is the merchant of record, we handle refunds, disputes, and chargebacks on your behalf. Refunds are deducted from that month’s payout, and any fraud or bank disputes are our responsibility — you never have to fight a claim with a bank yourself.
Yard is built for selling software — desktop apps, plugins, tools, and other downloadable projects. Connect a GitHub release and we host the files, generate license keys, and serve automatic updates to your users straight from our download API.
